Social Media and the fork

Social media is at a fork in the road similar to the way email then later the web. Today social media could become overly commercialized and start to become like a car sales lot. Every corner you turn there is someone selling you something. Only giving you information that is important to make the sale and skewing it in such away you purchase from them. Regardless of inbound or permission marketing philosophies, if you always sell then you will turn people off.

Pay For Performance

Now we have the marketers, only a few really get paid for performance. I am not talking about the Account Exec that sells creative work. I am talking about a firm or department that launches a campaign and is held accountable. They are paid for the number of leads they get, how many become prospects and how many set meetings. When dealing with a Marketing or Advertising agency make that a condition for pay.
